Jump Rope Videos

The results for Double Dutch Contest Japan Vol. 7 have been announced. You can check them out on the DDC.jp website. Here they are translated in english, thanks to Google. This year the DDCJ had 96 teams with a total of 507 jumpers competing. That’s a record turnout for the event.

This is a promo video for the event which has some very impressive jumping in it. Check out the guy jumping on his hands in an amazing display of strength and balance. He does at least 13 consecutive jumps on his hands before the video cuts to the next shot. Very impressive.

Last year the USA Jump Rope All Star Team performed on “Ellen’s Really BIG Show”. This was a variety show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres that aired on November 18th, 2007. Unfortunately I missed the original airing of the show and was unable to find video of it anywhere. Thankfully, Mike Fry recently found it on YouTube and sent a link my way. THANKS MIKE!!!

Once again the All Star Team does a brilliant job of exposing our sport to a larger audience. In the process they demonstrate just how great they are. How often do you see an entire performance with absolutely NO misses?? They look very professional and represent our sport very well. Great job guys!

Here is a promo video for the Forbes Flyers Jump Rope Team from Torrington, Connecticut.

This video focuses only on Double Dutch and is from a Hong Kong Rope Skipping team called Silver Jelly. I dig the music and the way they introduce the team members. There is one trick in here that really stood out for me; the leap frog over the turner and a jumper. Pretty cool stuff.

Lee Reisig recently posted the second installment of “The Rope Show”. In this episode, Lee shares video of Nick Woodard landing a trick called the “Death Wish”. This is a new trick that Nick let us know about last year when we interviewed him about landing the Money Maker. Lee thought of the trick, and Nick has become the first to land it. It’s a Triple Under AS landing in a Frog. This is a very scary trick. If you snag your rope while your arms are behind your knees, you will be in serious trouble. Your face will be the closest thing to the ground and your arms will be stuck behind your knees and therefore unable to break your fall when you land. Landing on your face is *NOT* part of the trick.
